Now Offering Contractor Endorsements: The Smart Way to Confirm Additional Requirements are Met

It’s often the case that not all site entry requirements are covered by standard certification packages. Certain locations, industries, or sites may require contractors to complete other screenings before accessing a site. Contractor endorsements go beyond standard screening packages by confirming that specific background checks or qualifications have been completed.

With the release of contractor endorsements directly on our Certified Contractors platform, we would like to share how they can benefit both vendors and sites.

What are Contractor Endorsements?

Endorsements and attestations may appear similar on the surface, but they serve distinct purposes. Attestations serve as self-declarations that can be used to fulfill broader site requirements, while endorsements provide third-party documented confirmation that requirements have been completed.

A contractor endorsement is an à la carte check that a contractor has completed unique screening requirements or qualifications not included in a standard contractor certification package. This allows sites and contracting companies to satisfy unique licensing, registry, or regulatory requirements without changing a contractor’s certification level.

Example

Some states require contractors that have access to vulnerable populations complete Abuse Registry checks. An endorsement can offer validation that the contractor has completed the check and provides color-coded status indicators on next steps.

Because those checks aren’t included in every standard screening level, an endorsement documents completion of required steps that can be kept on file.

Why Leverage Endorsements?

Contractor endorsements help make sure contractors meet necessary qualifications before they enter a job site, giving sites and vendors a more reliable way to uphold safety and compliance standards. With endorsements, there’s a trackable record showing confirmation that additional screening requirements are complete.

While endorsements aren’t necessary for every site or role, they can be a game-changer for positions that require proof of legally mandated screenings to maintain audit readiness. Since compliance needs vary from site to site, endorsements are a flexible tool you can use when:

  • Contracts call for documentation: Endorsements provide an easy way to access confirmation that contract-required screenings have been completed.
  • Roles have legal screening requirements: Certain industries, like healthcare or education, have rules that require proof of screening or license checks before a contractor can start. Endorsements provide a reliable confirmation to meet those requirements for audits.
  • Sites need stronger access control: Completed endorsements are highlighted on contractor profiles, improving compliance visibility and qualification for site access. With easy access to documentation alongside screening levels, sites are able to quickly and easily confirm contractors are qualified for site access.

Legal screening requirements vary by jurisdiction and industry; it’s important for sites to consult legal counsel before determining which endorsements are appropriate for their contractor credentialing process.

Common Applications for Contractor Endorsements

Contractor endorsement services are commonly used for documented proof of screening and qualifications that fall outside standard packages. Some of the frequent use cases include:

  • Adult Abuse Registry screening
  • Child Abuse Registry screening
  • E-Verify confirmation
  • Motor Vehicle Reports (MVRs)
  • Healthcare licenses
  • OIG (Office of Inspector General) Sanctions checks
  • Specialized credentials

Each of these might be legally required depending on the site’s industry, contractual obligations, or risk profile, and endorsements supply the documentation you need to keep on file and produce on demand. Endorsements are also customizable, allowing sites to specify requirements for different roles based on business needs or regulatory expectations.

How Endorsements Work

Much like attestations or advanced screening tier upgrades, endorsements are easy to add on to the process you’re already using:

  1. Requirement definition: Site policy or state-specific requirements are given (e.g., child abuse registry).
  2. Order and confirmation: Endorsements are available à la carte to supplement any of our standard screening packages.
  3. Recordkeeping and retrieval: Completed endorsement indicators are stored within the contractor’s Certified Contractors profile and can be accessed whenever needed for compliance checks or audits.

No more scattered files, emails, or manual requirement chasing. With endorsements integrated directly into your current workflow, check-ins and audits are easily organized and searchable by contractor or vendor. Endorsements provide clear, traceable proof of who’s requirements have been completed and allowed on site; built straight into the process you already use.

A Stronger Foundation for Vendor and Site Compliance

For sites, endorsements create a clearer, traceable record of which requirements were confirmed and when, adding clearer documentation and reducing the risk of unqualified contractors gaining access to sites. For vendors, endorsements can make it easier to qualify for additional sites and win future contracts.

Contractor endorsements provide an easy, built-in way, right in the Certified Contractors portal, to demonstrate that specific required screenings and qualifications have been completed, when laws, contracts, or policies require proof beyond attestations or standard screening packages. Integrating endorsements into your current workflow supports strengthened access control, risk reduction, and helps sites ensure decisions are backed by validated information.
